Lakas, Barry

Barry is an Enforcement Accountant in the Atlanta Regional Office. He has been an employee of the SEC since 1980 and worked in the Division of Corporation Finance during the early years of his SEC career. Having worked at the SEC for so long, he remembers how things “used to be” and has seen the many positive changes that NTEU has brought to the agency. He mentions these changes when attempting to recruit new members for the union, and through his recruiting efforts he has helped bring the ARO to majority union status amongst its bargaining unit employees. This is his second term on the Executive Board. He also served as a steward at the ARO between his two periods on the Executive Board. He believes in being a strong advocate for our members and their potential problems. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia.
