Reed: Budget Deal Must Include Funds for SEC, CFTC
From TheHill.com: A top Senate Democrat will reportedly demand sufficient budgets for federal financial regulators as part of any federal budget deal. Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.), who chairs the Senate Banking Committee's subcommittee on securities, said that adequate funds for the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) were crucial to the proper functioning of the nation's financial markets. As a result, any budget deal reached in Congress needs to include enough money for those agencies, he said.
