4/16/14: Last week, the union awarded Chicago Regional Office steward Dee O'Hair the Excellence in Crisis Management Award. She was honored for her work representing a CHRO employee who faced a situation with a particularly difficult manager. Dee was able to obtain a swift response from senior management to deal with the manager and resolve the situation.

The awards ceremony took place during the National Treasury Employees Union's National Steward Training Conference. Dozens of SEC stewards, along with stewards from many other federal agencies, attended the conference, where they received training on a wide range of issues, including the new CBA, compensation matters, performance management, representation of employees, litigation updates, etc.

"To receive this award is an honor and the employees in the Chicago Regional Office should be very proud to have among them such a talented and dedicated individual who is willing to represent their interests, even under unpleasant circumstances," Chapter 293 President Greg Gilman said this morning. "When you have nowhere else to turn it is good to know that someone like Dee has your back. I know that I am very proud of my association and work with Dee. She is a class act who deserves to be recognized for her tireless efforts on behalf of CHRO employees."
