New Chapter 293 Officials

October 2006: During the month of September, the membership elected new Chapter 293 officials who will serve for three-year terms, through September 30, 2009. The election was held by mail, and the ballots were collected and counted in Washington on September 28, 2006, by the Election Committee with the assistance of NTEU Field Representative Michael Piacsek.

Election Committee Chairman Ed Kelly reported the following winners: President, Greg Gilman (62%); Vice President, Veronica Lewis (58%); Secretary, April Keyes (75%); and HQ Reps (Non-Professional), Pat Copeland (35%), Barbara Rew (21%) and Bettina Thorpe-Tucker (23%). In addition, the following offices were uncontested and the nominees were thus deemed duly elected under the Chapter Bylaws: Treasurer, Dean Suehiro; HQ Reps (Professional), Mike Clampitt and John Grzeskiewicz; HQ Rep (VA Ops Center), Deidre Simms Williams; BDO Rep, Daniel Barry; PDO Rep, Brian Carroll; NERO Reps, Joel Crepea and John Graubard; and CRO Rep, Linda Beyer. Congratulations to all of our new officials.

Representatives of several other offices for which no candidates were nominated will be appointed by the Chapter leadership under the Bylaws.

Special thanks are owed to our outgoing Chapter officers for their many hours of hard work on behalf of Chapter 293 over the past three years: President Mike Clampitt; Vice President Tim Nealon; and Secretary Carolyn Smallwood. Thanks also should be given to the members of the Election Committee, all of whom volunteered their time and energy to shepherd our election process: Chairman Ed Kelly, Bill Friar, Joe Kempf, Melissa Kimps, Jim O’Connor, Tom Sanders and Carolyn Smallwood.
