Continuing Resolution Passes the House

10/04/2011

10/4/11: Today, in a vote of 352 ayes to 66 nays, the House agreed to H.R. 2608, the Continuing Appropriations Act of 2012 that has already passed the Senate. The measure funds the government through November 18 and will now be sent to President Obama who is expected to sign it.

This CR reflects the $1.043 trillion spending limit, with an across- the-board reduction of  approximately 1.5 percent for individual agencies. While the agreement was long in coming, and avoided a government shutdown for now, Congress still needs to finish appropriating the FY 2012 funds for all federal agencies before the November 18 CR runs out.  This can be done through individual appropriations bills or by way of an Omnibus Appropriations measure, or we will face another potential shutdown.

NTEU will continue its fight for adequate agency funding to enable the federal workforce to perform its important work in delivering services to the public.
