After 38 years of SEC service and 5 years as the Vice President of NTEU Chapter 293, Lance Alworth retired from the agency effective January 11, 2025. He has been replaced by CHRO union steward Drew O'Brien.
Before he was elected Vice President of the union, Lance served as both a steward and Executive Board member for many years. As Vice President, Lance was involved in all aspects of Chapter 293’s efforts over the past 5 years. He was particularly committed to maintaining healthy relations between management and the union within the Division of Examinations, where he worked for most of his 38 years at the SEC. The Chapter benefitted enormously over the years from Lance’s deep institutional knowledge of Exams. We wish him many years of happiness in retirement.
Chapter 293’s Executive Board voted to appoint Drew O’Brien, Senior Counsel in the Division of Enforcement in the Chicago Regional Office, to fill the remainder of Lance’s term as Vice President. Drew is a longtime steward and member of the Executive Board, a member of the National Labor Management Relations Committee, and was a member of the union’s team that negotiated the 2023 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
