Melissia is Senior Counsel in the Division of Enforcement in the Los Angeles Regional Office. She received a BA from Loyola University New Orleans and a JD from Loyola Law School New Orleans. Melissia has been a public servant in the law for over 30 years in capacities such as Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana, Chief Litigation Counsel at the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Assistant City Attorney, and Assistant District Attorney. She was also an Adjunct law Professor at Tulane Law School and Loyola University. She has quasi-judicial experience as a Hearing Committee Member with the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board, where she presided over trials involving attorney misconduct and wrote decisions accordingly. Melissia has been an active member in the union since the first day she was hired at the SEC in 2007. Her first union appointment was as Legislative Representative in 2012. She was appointed a steward in 2014. She was appointed to serve as Chapter Secretary in 2020.
