December 2006: The Chapter 293 Legislative Committee deals with legislative issues and their application to SEC employees, coordinates lobbying efforts and educates Chapter 293 members about legislative activity. In the coming year, the committee will be working closely with NTEU’s Department of Legislation on issues of importance to SEC employees. Committee members are looking forward to working with the new Congress. A top legislative priority in 2007 will be to obtain passage of legislation permitting the SEC to increase agency matching contributions to SEC employee TSP retirement savings accounts.

The Legislative Committee needs volunteers like you from every office in the country. If you are a member of NTEU (or you are willing to become a member), and you are interested in engaging in communications with your local Senators and Representatives regarding issues of importance to SEC employees, you should consider joining the committee. This is a volunteer position that can be a challenging, rewarding and fun way to help out the Chapter.
