Law Rocks - SEC Band Playing to Benefit NTEU's FEEA

08/27/2019

They are attorneys at the SEC by day, aspiring rock stars by night.  And Thursday night, Sept. 12, their band, G.O.A.T. Rodeo, will be competing for the second time in Law Rocks – a battle of the bands for rock n’ rolling legal professionals.  In 2018, the band was selected as the DC crowd favorite, and raised more than $15,000 for charity.

Like last year, the band is playing to benefit the Federal Employee Education and Assistance (FEEA) Fund, NTEU’s non-profit organization, which is devoted exclusively to helping federal employees and their families through emergency assistance and scholarships.  FEEA played a critical role in supporting feds in need during the 2018-2019 government shutdown.

“We selected FEEA as our charity again because its mission seems more critical now than ever,” said Stacy Puente, a SEC Attorney Advisor and Chapter 293 member.

Puente sings lead vocals in the band with fellow NTEU member/SEC attorney advisor Jon Shapiro, the lead guitarist, and drummer Reid Muoio, assistant director in the Enforcement Division’s Complex Financial Instruments unit.  Rounding out the band are legal professionals from AARP, as well as Washington Post editorial cartoonist Tom Toles, who designed the band’s logo.

G.O.A.T. Rodeo describes its stylings as “a goat-tastic extravaganza of rock and roll soundsations!”

For all the fun G.O.A.T. Rodeo and audiences will have at Law Rocks, Puente and the band are serious in their commitment to helping federal employees.

“The government shutdown was a difficult time in many ways for federal employees. For some, having FEEA’s support meant being able to pay a bill, or purchase groceries. In playing to benefit FEEA, we want to further the organization’s mission in any way we can, and to stand in solidarity with our fellow federal employees.”

G.O.A.T. Rodeo will play Thursday, Sept. 12 at the 9:30 Club (815 V Street N.W., Washington, D.C.).  Doors open at 7 p.m., with V.I.P. tickets available for an early entrance at 6 p.m. To get tickets, visit https://lawrocks.org/wdc  and select G.O.A.T. Rodeo as the band you’re supporting.
